Important Health and Safety Information

The information provided by Yinyang Spa is for educational and wellness purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. While massage therapy can be a vital component of a healthy lifestyle, it is a therapeutic service and not a medical procedure.

Health Disclosure and Client Responsibility

By booking a session at Yinyang Spa, you agree to provide an accurate and complete health history. It is the client’s responsibility to inform the therapist of any pre-existing medical conditions, physical limitations, or allergies before the treatment begins. If your health status changes between visits, please ensure you update your therapist or the front-of-house team prior to your next session.

Skin Conditions and Hygiene Protocols

The health of your skin is a priority for our team. We require all guests to disclose any active skin conditions, including but not limited to:
Rashes or inflammatory conditions (eczema, psoriasis)
Fungal infections (athlete’s foot, ringworm)
Open wounds, cuts, or abrasions
Contagious skin disorders
Use of Gloves: In the event of a minor skin irritation or at the discretion of the therapist for hygiene and safety purposes, our practitioners will use medical-grade gloves during the treatment. Yinyang Spa reserves the right to refuse service or reschedule an appointment if a skin condition is deemed contagious or if a massage could potentially worsen the irritation or risk the health of the therapist.

Women’s Health and Menstruation

Receiving a massage during your period is generally safe and can help alleviate common symptoms such as lower back pain and cramping. However, we ask our female guests to consider the following:
Increased Circulation
Massage stimulates blood flow, which may temporarily increase your menstrual flow immediately following the session.
Sensitivity
You may experience heightened sensitivity or tenderness during your period. Please communicate with your therapist so they can adjust the pressure to your comfort level.
Abdominal Work
We recommend avoiding or requesting very light pressure on the abdominal area during the first few days of your cycle.
Hygiene
For your comfort and the hygiene of our facilities, we require that appropriate menstrual products be used during the session.

Pregnancy Disclaimer

We offer specialised prenatal therapy; however, certain precautions must be taken for the safety of both the mother and the baby:
Medical Clearance
We strongly recommend that pregnant women consult with their healthcare provider before receiving a massage.
First Trimester
Treatments during the first trimester are generally avoided.
High-Risk Pregnancy
If you have been diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, or gestational diabetes, you must disclose this information immediately.
Specialised Techniques
Please ensure you book the specific “Prenatal” service to be assigned a specialist trained in safe positioning and pressure techniques.

General Cautions and Contraindications

You should consult a physician before booking a massage if you are currently experiencing:
Fever or acute infectious diseases
Recent surgery or major physical trauma
Blood clots or a history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Severe osteoporosis or recent bone fractures
Advanced heart disease or unstable high blood pressure
Active cancer or undergoing chemotherapy

Our therapists are certified practitioners of massage therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques; they are not medical doctors. They do not diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, or perform spinal manipulations. Massage therapy should be used as a complementary wellness practice and not as a replacement for clinical medical care.
